Interstate Highway Restrictions
I-95 Providence: I-95 South, at Exit 22 (Downtown Providence/Rtes. 6 & 10), exit closed for construction, Monday and Tuesday nights from midnight to 6 a.m. the following day. Follow signed detour.
I-95 Providence: I-95 South, from Exit 23 (Charles St.) to Exit 22 (Downtown Providence/Rtes. 6 & 10), right lane closed for construction, Monday and Tuesday nights from 9 p.m. to midnight.
I-95 Richmond/Exeter: I-95 North and South, from Exit 3 to Exit 5, shoulder closures for drainage work, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
I-95 Exeter/Richmond: Watch for construction vehicles exiting and entering the median area along I-95 South after Exit 5 (Rte. 102) at the Tefft Hill Trail Bridge, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Spring 2017.
I-195 Providence: I-195 East and West, from the I-95 interchange to Exit 2 (EB: India St./Gano St.; WB: South Main St.), left shoulder closure for construction through January 2017.
Other Limited Access Highway Restrictions:
Rte 6 Rte 10 Providence: Truck traffic is restricted to the right lane from the Westminster St. overpass over Rte. 10 South/Rte. 6 West to the Rte. 6/Rte. 10 interchange, and on Rte. 6 East at the Rte. 6/Rte. 10 interchange.
Metropolitan Providence
Pawtucket: The Barton St. Bridge, between Broad St. and Montgomery St., is currently closed.
Providence: The Pleasant Valley Parkway Bridge that carries Dean St. over the Woonasquatucket River is closed.
Pawtucket: Division St. East over the Division St. Bridge, from Pleasant St. to Water St., is closed with a detour in place for bridge work, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through March 2017. Westbound travel is not restricted. Detour of local traffic via Main St. and School St. Advanced detour using I-95 North at Exit 28 (School St.). Please note: Also as part of this project, pedestrians are limited to use the sidewalk on the south side of the bridge through October 2017.
Cranston: Wellington Ave. North and South under I-95 North and South, alternating one-way traffic for bridge work, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Rte 6 East Providence: Rte. 6 East and West, from Moorland Ave. to Boyd Ave., alternating lane closures for utility work, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
East Providence: Pawtucket Ave. North and South, from Warren Ave. to Waterman Ave., right lane closed for utility work, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Pawtucket: Effective Friday, January 27, Taft St. North and South under the Division St. Bridge, lane shifts for sidewalk work, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Providence: Concord St. North and South, from Bentley Lane to Nashua St., right lane closed for a bridge inspection, Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Rte 44 Providence: Rte. 44 (Smith St.) East, from Gaspee St. to Canal St., right lane and sidewalk closures for barrier placement through January 2017.
Providence: Elmwood Ave. North and South, from the I-95 underpass to the entrance to Roger Williams Park, has continuous alternating lane closures for construction and bridge work through May 2018.
Newport County
Newport: In order to accommodate construction work at the Newport Transportation and Visitors Center, motorists will experience a right lane closure on America’s Cup Ave., from Gladys Carr Bolhouse Rd. to West Marlborough St., through June 2017. RIPTA has designated temporary bus stop locations along America’s Cup Avenue since the Visitors’ Center boarding area will be closed for the duration of the project. Northern R.I. & Blackstone Valley
Rte 5 North Smithfield: Rte. 5 (Providence Pike), between Main St. and Church St. in Slatersville, there is a single-lane alternating traffic pattern due to bridge condition. Portable traffic signals are in place to direct vehicles over the bridge.
Rte 122 Woonsocket: On Rte. 122 (Hamlet Ave.) at the Hamlet Avenue Bridge over the Blackstone River, temporary lane shifts possible for bridge work through Fall 2017.
South County
138 Richmond: Rte. 138 West, from Canob Lane to Stilson Rd., partial left lane and left shoulder closures for maintenance, Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
West Bay
117 Warwick: Rte. 117 (Centerville Rd.) East, from Meadow St./Burger King to Post Rd. (Apponaug Four Corners), one lane open in each direction for construction, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Rte 5 Warwick: Rte. 5 (Greenwich Ave.), from Post Rd./Centerville Rd. (Apponaug Four Corners) to Veterans Memorial Dr., alternating lane closures for drainage work, Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Delays anticipated.
Rte 2 Warwick: Rte. 2 North, from Rhode Island Mall to the I-295 overpass, left lane closed for bridge work through Summer 2017.
117 Warwick: Rte. 117 (Centerville Rd.), from Meadow St./Burger King to Post Rd. (Apponaug Four Corners), Eastbound and Westbound traffic are now using the Veterans Memorial Dr. Extension. Centerville Rd. is closed to thru traffic from Post Rd. to Meadow St. Please note: access to/from businesses is maintained.
Warwick: A temporary traffic signal has been activated at the Metro Center Blvd. Bridge carrying Metro Center Blvd. over the Airport Connector. With this activation, the detour has been removed. Motorists will now experience one lane of alternating traffic, and possible delays, through Winter 2017.
Warwick: Airport Connector East at the Jefferson Blvd. off-ramp, lanes shifted to the high speed lane, with all exits open. Westbound traffic will continue through the current configuration through Winter 2017.
